Vila-Sana, Spain
In the Spanish village ‘Vila-Sana’, the biogas produced at the ‘Porgaporcs’ pig farm is upgraded to biomethane in a Bright Biomethane system. This biomethane is compressed and used as vehicle fuel, bio-CNG, for a demonstration project. In the future, the biomethane will be probably injected into the Spanish national distribution gas grid. This biogas upgrading installation has a capacity of 214 Nm3/hr ingoing biogas and the project is led by Gas Natural Fenosa (GNF) as part of their participation in the project LIFE+ Metamorphosis, a European financed project with the objective to recover energy from organic solid waste from both municipal and agro-industrial and farming sources to obtain alternative and sustainable fuels.
