FIRST BIOMETHANE INJECTED INTO DUTCH NATURAL GAS GRID IN TWEEDE EXLOËRMOND (NL)

This week the first biomethane was injected into the Dutch natural gas grid at a project in Tweede Exloërmond, the Netherlands. Bright Biomethane supplied the biogas upgrading system. The biogas plant has been producing electricity over the past ten years and has recently been converted by HoSt to a green gas installation that upgrades 770 Nm³/hr biogas to 500 Nm³/u biomethane.

Biomethane is identical to natural gas, but has as major advantage that it is a carbon dioxide (CO2) emission saving alternative to natural gas. The transition of producing electricity to producing green gas has become a significantly important one for the future and biomethane share in the European energy mix is growing as more and more plants inject biomethane into the national grid. Bright Biomethane, one of the largest suppliers of well-proven biogas upgrading systems in Europe, is contributing to this green future.
